Alloa's Kenny Wilson is continuing his training for a trek up Africa's highest peak - Mount Kilimanjaro - for Asthma UK. His latest blog covers a walk with pals in Prince Charles favourite area Lochnagar.

Some 20 odd years ago we skated on a frozen Loch Muick so I was really looking forward to revisiting this area again.

Head for the car park Spittal of Glen Muick, head up the track past the visitor centre which was a public toilet. Follow the signed track heading across the bridge continue along the path which hugs the river.

Eventually you will pass a memorial to a climber who died. Continue along this well-trod path zigzagging up the Fox and take time to take in the breath taking view of Lochnagar. James and Mark took in Meikle, but Rab and I being the old timers saved our energy. From here there is an amazing view of Cac Carn Beag. Rab and I took a break to re-fuel here and admire the view.

This was a really lazy day for us as James is a fantastic navigator and led us along this fine horse shoe traverse, first taking in Cac Carn Beag then cutting back to take in the summits of Carn a'Choire, Boidheach, Cairn an t-Sagairt Mor, Cairn Bannoch & Broad Cairn. Get yourself ready for the long 5k walk home along a bulldozed path with the only advantage of taking in some amazing views down onto the Royal lodge sitting on the banks of Loch Muick.

These mountains have been walked by members of the royal family past and present and I would recommend this walk to anyone. Just in case you don't have a good navigator like James with you can find more information at the link below.
