Burglar stole to feed her drug addiction
A BURGLAR who stole more than £1000 worth of goods to fund her drug habit appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Charlene Morgan (33) took items such as sunglasses, a glass display cabinet and a Tigger toy from a property in Alloa while the householder slept.
Police were called after Morgan was spotted leaving the garden with her loot.
By the time they caught up with her, just hours later, she had already broken into a garden shed and stolen a drill, jigsaw, storage box, pair of trainers, alcohol and four ornamental cherubs.
Morgan, of Cowane Street, Stirling, admitted the thefts from a house in Downs Crescent, Alloa and a garden shed in Caledonian Road, Alloa, on 29 June.
Both charges were committed whilst she was on bail and the total cost of the items stolen was £1259.
Fiscal depute Sue Ruta said she was unsure if all items were recovered.
George Higgins, defending, said Morgan committed the offence to fuel her drug habit. He added that shortly after the thefts his client was put on a programme to deal with her heroin abuse.
The court heard Morgan, who had several previous convictions for shoplifting, was currently on a Drug Treatment Testing Order.
Deferring sentence for three months to monitor her progress, Sheriff David Mackie warned her, "This is really quite serious and goes well beyond shoplifting."
